PONTYCLUN BOWLS CLUB
The Club in its present form has been operating for over 80 years.
Fresh members are always welcome,young, old, those in between, and even those currently undecided!
Retiring from
The game is not quite as easy as it looks, but you'll soon learn the ropes; and the rewards are brilliant!
There are fully qualified coaches and equipment available. The Club will welcome any interested parties A few may think they have a disability which will bar them, this is not so and every effort will be made to accommodate you. Some of the players will be at the green particularly on Friday evenings when a warm welcome is assured. Clive is in charge on these evenings. We realise this takes a real effort because its easier not to ...but you won't regret it!
The new players we attracted this season are all performing extremely well and though I've played only three games this season, I have been very impressed with their talent and their attitude to the game which bodes well for the 2016 Season.
The players we attracted last season have settled in well, proving a valuable asset. For example, Richard Price a Bristolian became a first team skip and the Club Champion! Followed by 2015 Club Captain!
Mike Taylor, also a Bristolian, made several first team appearances, finalist in the 2 Wood Competition and semi finalist in the Novices tournament, which unfortunately we didn't have time to complete. because he could have won that!
Mark and Jeff (or Steve as he is sometimes called! by me, anyway!) too, made a big impression. Jeff has succeeded me as Fixture Sec. and he carries my thanks and sincere best wishes.
Volunteers have carried out a lot of work on the green and its surrounds, its looking a picture and bowling well too! Unfortunately the bowling has been found wanting on several occasions!
==================
Hello all,
I think the time has come to hang up my boots, or at least my flat soled shoes! I have found the 21 ends plus 2 trials, too much for me this season. So I doubt if I'll be be extending my membership in 2017, I have enjoyed the bowling with a great set of lads, thank you very much.Now the Web-site, perhaps Nigel will be willing to take it over?Any support I can give, you only need to ask, and my best wishes for a successful 2017.
